Riddlesdown LTC prides itself on being a welcoming, social club.  Our members are living proof the club has brought many new friends as well as keeping them fightng fit over the years.

Here's what our members have to say....

Richard Allen - Club President

Our club is one of the most friendly to be found and we welcome players of all ages and levels.  Why not come along and join us to enjoy your tennis and even to one of our social events.

John Aust

Joining Riddlesdown in my mid fifties, although having been a ‘Club Player’ since the age of 16 years my tennis was, to put it kindly, very rusty. I started in the Improvers section with the promise of better things to come. Everyone I met on court and off was welcoming and friendly and soon
felt part of the Club. Several months later and to my delight I was made up to a Senior Member. My initial excitement at what was obviously a great improvement in my standard of play was somewhat dashed by the comment that the main reason for my promotion was that I was extremely efficient in the washing up department. In my defence I did, with my partner Greta, win the Plate in a subsequent annual tournament, served on the committee and was Vice Chairman for a time.

I joined Riddlesdown Lawn Tennis Club three years ago, as a 50 year old novice.  Despite my complete lack of experience I was made to feel very welcome and, with advice and guidance from a number of senior members, I quickly grasped the basics of the game.  I have now have reached a point where I feel I can play to a reasonably competitive level.   Since I joined the club I have improved my fitness and health and have made a number of friends.

Lizzie Knights

From the age of 7 I have been playing tennis at Riddlesdown Lawn Tennis Club (on and off - taking time out to be a rebellious teenager!).  As a junior in the early 90's I developed my game with the help of some great coaches and players (most of whom are still there).   I have since re-joined and instantly felt welcome back to the club and have re-kindled my love for the game.  I am yet to retrieve a John Pewtress tramline special - which remains my current ambition in life!

Carole & Phil Hague

A great club, friendly and very accommodating. Have been a member since 2001, you don't know what your missing!

June Atherton

I joined Riddlesdown Tennis Club about four years ago aged 60, very much a novice player.  I have made many friends and enjoy playing social tennis at least twice a week.  Nobody puts any pressure on you and the more experienced players are very supportive, giving helpful criticism to help improve your game at whatever standard you might be.  We have a ball machine which is very useful and certainly keeps you fit.  We are open to beginners and competitive players of all ages.  Everyone is very friendly and we have a good social side to the club.  Having been a swimmer most of my life I needed a new challenge and I have thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this club.

John & Ian tuck into a nice slice of chocolate cake on a snowy Saturday afternoon in February!
